We have received the following email from the Yorkshire Film Archive.
We are just getting in touch to draw your attention to a WWI project that's being conducted by the Yorkshire Film Archive in the run-up to the Centenary commemorations in August. The project is entitled Filmed and Not Forgotten and its basic premise is to identify and research individuals immortalised in the films that we hold from the Great War period, as well as putting the footage in the context of the conflict as a whole. We're really keen to foster some community involvement and I hope that this might be something that your members may be interested in contributing to.
To that end we've recently set up a research site that will house the footage and a forum for the sharing of information, which can be found by clicking www.filmedandnotforgotten.com
The end result will be an online exhibition as well as a series of screenings and presentations across the region, which I’d be delighted to keep you informed about once we have our programme finalised early next year.
The forum’s now open to comments so hopefully will begin to be populated over the coming weeks, but if you or any of your members want to get in touch directly, do feel free to either use the contact form on the site or by emailing me directly.
